DK weapon, elmore chainsword

As a fellow DK I have turned away from chainswords because of this. After owning an elmore chainsword and testing against paagrio and maphr, I do more damage with the paag/maphr against anything that lives longer than 1 foe slayer. Additionally, I get to use the good morphs and on top of that I get to use a shield which currently works out to +8 AC. Unless it is bonkers in pvp it makes no sense to use a chainsword at all in pve with the buffed proc weapons available to craft.

Hence... this post🫠.

Just putting my 2 cents in so hopefully there could be a reason to use chain swords. In hindsight I should have just gone fire elf if I wanted to play melee. Then I could at least cancel the bosses who haste and beat my ass

what about foe slayer bonus damage?

you can do silly damage with it, i watched a guy level to 60 in record time with a chainsword

using an elmore chainsword I can foe for like ~100x3, proc is usually like 25 maybe
using paagrio hatred i foe for ~45x3 ish, proc hits for like 75 and swings faster

If I use PH with a safe enchant shield I get +6 ac vs a safe enchant guarder, and dk poly, and faster swing. I lose 2 cell attack, big whoop, who cares. PH kills faster, especially if I roll high on procs and I can foe with it so I get triple hits which makes for more procs vs classes that just swing normally.

If you saw the guy hit 60 on this server it could be wolfwood? Everytime I see him without poly he is holding an axe. Probably didnt have the dragon scales to make a weap yet.

And a special fuck you to lance master, god I hate that poly.

Yup i also get around ~100 x 3 but proc dmg is so shitty. When it does proc, it usually hits in the range of 10-20 only. Not to mention the sacrifice you have to make in using two hands. Also limited weapon choices too. I personally think elmore, thebes, cold chain (not sure if there is one on the server yet) could use some boost in either raw dmg output or proc dmg.

combining one handed sword which does on-par/slightly higher dmg while getting free -9 AC (7 elven shield) doesn't seem right

Thinking more on this. I think the real problem is the proc weapons are too strong. They completely negate weapon variety for sword using melee.

It feels like there is no reason to use anything else when you can make a PH for less than 20mil whenever you want to because the server has been flooded with dragon scales due to valentine and st paddy events. The actual bottleneck is ash of astagio which is kind of nuts. There are people just teleporting between astagio spawn points to try to farm it. Me included.

There is no reason to farm for bori or make forbidden weapons. Someone made a 7 brap and now it's in gtz. Probably because their proc weapon is better.

Progression seems to be: ivory tower weapon > class leveling quest weapon > ph or maphr > fidelity?

Agree that it is overtuned but it makes pve element more enjoyable.

Also harder to take away what is already in place from the users.

Seems easier and fair to improve classes of weapons so the love is spread around and the players have more options to choose from

The Elmore Chainsword really needs some love. It’s one of the reasons people are quitting DK and making +8 Elmore Chainswords, lol. That alone proves the point. There are only about 2–3 DKs on the server compared to 20+ Knights. The picture speaks a thousand words.

Brain is completely right about the Elmore Chainsword. He even provided a Korean link showing its stats. I couldn’t even beat a Knight around my level using a +7 Elmore Chainsword, while that Knight was using a maphr and didn’t even have CB. Imagine when Knights do have CB—there will definitely be no room for DKs on the server. Thank you for your consideration!

So the reason ive noticed is your STR levels really. Lower STR the proc dmg from ret and or ph is going to feel a lot more substantial. My DK has 35 STR and my 9 thebe chain shits all over a 9 ret or 9 ph

Its a difficult thing to buff the chain too much as it's already crazy strong lol

What is your proc damage as 35str?

I dont want to have to be forced to use a one handed proc sword as DK because there is simply no better chain option at lower range level. Not sure if using ph or ret is way to go as low level when you are dk

No need to play DK at that point without being able to use class unique magics that i can use as fire elf, higher tanking/stun ability with knight, crazy double dmg/crit DE.

If thebes chain is as crazy good as you claim it to be at high str, point taken and good to know. Light at the end of the tunnel. However, if no viable chain options to bridge to reach that str, im gonna lay off DK.

This is prob why DK population is always single digit no matter what.
