Unicorn not turning into nightmare

There is also another mini-issue, I type it here since it's only us, I am not sure if Silence is working fine on great spirits

since it consumes the magic gems, I select the target, but no "spell failed" nor animation goes through

Is it due to my level/INT factoring being too low or is this expected behaviour?
