Thats all expected
Elemental fire inconsistent
+10 paag with +5 ele with the new 33-66-100
with ele only
It's hard to see ele without soul on
Because it will give 50% on the 30dmg swings as well as the 50 DMG swings
The 100% only means Elemental Fire’s bonus damage block always triggers. It does not make the whole melee hit a fixed
number.
Each swing can still vary because the base damage before Elemental Fire includes things like:
- weapon damage roll
- weapon enchant / bless / material modifiers
- STR and class damage modifiers
- target reduction/DR/armor effects
- critical/double/proc style effects
- elemental resistance or vulnerability
- random PvE/PvP damage variance if applied elsewhere
Elemental Fire then takes that already-variable damage and boosts the eligible part by 1.5x. So if your base swing
rolls 100, it becomes roughly 150; if the next base swing rolls 120, it becomes roughly 180.so even 100% elemental fire x1.5 damage will not give you say 50, 50, 50, 50, 50
Yes that reads exactly as I would expect. BUT when you add soul of flame the number is no longer variable it's always max roll
- weapon damage roll (always max from SOF)
- weapon enchant / bless / material modifiers (non variable)
- STR and class damage modifiers** (non variable)**
- target reduction/DR/armor effects (variable by target but not variable in testing)
- critical/double/proc style effects (excluded)
- elemental resistance or vulnerability (variable by target but not variable in testing)
- random PvE/PvP damage variance if applied elsewhere * (variable by target but not variable in testing)*
Am I wrong here?
For a sword with 10/10 dmg and +1dmg that is +7 on a elf with 35 STR I would expect
10 damage every swing from sword with SOF
+7 weapon enchant damage
+1 weapon dmg
+12 STR bonus
+0 for "class damage modifier" (may be different but im not sure what it would be)
Summed to 30 dmg per swing * 1.5 for elemental fire to end up as 45 dmg per swing
I don't know what the best approach is
the elemental enchant thing stood as as an interesting middle ground, but also not ideal
and 100% in general may just be the way to go
It seems like 100% would be an across the board buff for fire elves across the board rather than an incremental buff base on how rich you are
And I had a mage tank me in melee last night as a 66 fire rod fully buffed with 35 str and a KV1HS…. A buff seems realistic lol
i set it for 100% and walked back my 33-66-100 based on ele
i dont want to overcomplicate things for under-populated classses/combos
Cool. Should it be live?
it is
100% feels good. A moderate dmg increase, even more reliable dmg. Not a huge buff but certainly stronger in PVE
Thanks guys, since this is tested and in, we'll close this one out. Feel free to re-open if we need to discuss/re-adjust.
