In the first you can see the damage from Wis:
- Destroy: 188 damage
- Sunburst: 105 damage
- FID proc: 330 damage
Looking at these numbers, I find it very difficult to justify using Destroy in PvP. A spell that is supposed to be a major source of mage damage is hitting for significantly less than a proc effect, while Sunburst is also doing a substantial amount of damage compared to Destroy.
In the second screenshot , you can see:
- Destroy: 197 damage
- Sunburst: 88 damage
- Sunburst: 123 damage
Again, Destroy is barely doing more damage than Sunburst, despite being a much more important and impactful spell in a mage's arsenal.
On top of that, I previously landed a Critical Destroy (I unfortunately don't have a screenshot of this), and it only dealt 278 damage.
This is what concerns me about Destroy's current PvP scaling. Considering the high MR players can obtain, the negative spell chance modifiers, and the difficulty of consistently landing offensive spells, I feel that Destroy's current damage is simply far too low to be considered a viable PvP spell.
At the moment, there is very little incentive to use Destroy when other sources of damage — including Sunburst and even proc effects — can come surprisingly close to, or significantly outperform, its damage.
I've attached the two Destroy screenshots along with Wis's proc damage so the numbers can be reviewed directly.
I would really appreciate it if the PvP damage and scaling of Destroy could be looked into. I don't necessarily think the spell needs to become overpowered, but in its current state it feels severely underpowered and not rewarding enough when it actually lands.
I also would like to add that the spellchances mages have are really bad again, and i encountered -% spellchances during several pvp scenario's
